Planned Methods To Reduce Risks
Access to the battery rooms will be strictly limited to authorised personnel. Access to the battery rooms will be strictly controlled by locking arrangements with keys only issued to authorised personnel. Work on the batteries, will be carried out by authorised personnel working on a permit to work system. If the room has an automatically controlled fire suppression system, the system must be disabled before the room is entered, and reinstated after the permit to work has been cancelled. All work within the battery rooms will be controlled under a permit to work system. The battery rooms will have the appropriate warning signs fixed to the access doors, complete with telephone numbers to contact in case of an emergency. Access to the battery rooms will be kept clear at all times. First aid equipment, including eye washing, shall be available adjacent to battery rooms. No smoking or naked flames will be allowed in the battery room. Ventilation vents to be kept clear at all times.
